Black Hawk Recall

Statement from masterpet

The quality of our products and the health of pets is paramount. As part of our ongoing quality control processes, we have discovered an issue with specific batches of Black Hawk that were manufactured last year, resulting in mould developing in some batches of our products.

Our supply partner has informed us that during their manufacturing process there have been non-conforming products that are out of our manufacturing specifications. This breakdown in process allowed for a higher than normal moisture level to be present in the final kibble and after the product has been packaged this has allowed mould to develop in some bags.

We have identified the batches that have been affected and can confirm that it impacts the products and best before dates listed on the following page.

We have made the decision to VOLUNTARILY AND IMMEDIATELY RECALL all the listed products from the market to ensure that we can deliver on the quality expectations of our Black Hawk customers and their pets.

REQUIRED ACTIONS
  • If your product matches the disclosed best before dates listed below, stop feeding it to your pet immediately.
  • Return the product to your place of purchase, where your retailer will provide you with a replacement bag of food.

If your dog has consumed product from these batches, it is likely that they will not be impacted. However, should your dog show any signs of illness such as diarrhoea or vomiting, we recommend you contact your vet and notify us through our customer service team.

To date we have had no reports of illness in any animals and if product is affected the mould is obvious to consumers and pet parents. How do I check if my Black Hawk product is affected?

Check the best before date on your package and if the date matches one of the above dates listed your product is affected

What do I do if my product has been affected?

Immediately stop feeding your pet and check if your dog is showing any signs of illness such as diarrhoea or vomiting, if they are we recommend you then take your dog to the vet

Can I return my bag to the store?

You can return your affected bag to any PETstock store

Can I get a refund or exchange?

If your bag has been affected you can choose to either replace your bag, receive a full refund or exchange the bag to another brand using the value of your Black Hawk bag.

How do I return my Black Hawk product if I purchased it online?

To return your affected Black Hawk bag, you can either do so in store, or, contact our customer service team from where we will arrange a return label free of charge for you to return to us. We will process your refund then and there.

I've already disposed of my dog food. How do I get my refund?

All we need is to confirm your proof of purchase within the timeframe of the affected product being produced. Our customer service team or instore staff will be more than happy to help you out.

I use my own dog food container to store my Black Hawk dog food and threw out the packaging. How do I prove that I have an affected batch

Similar to the statement above, all we need is to confirm your proof of purchase within the timeframe of the affected product being produced. Our customer service team or instore staff will be more than happy to help you out.

My Black Hawk product is unaffected however I want to return my Black Hawk bag. Can I do that?

We are more than happy to assist our customers transition to other brands if they so deem necessary. We are happy for you to return both open and unopen bags for what ever reason to receive a refund or move to another brand.
