Toys offer a great opportunity to spend quality time with your buddy, strengthening the bond you share and giving them some exercise during playtime.

Is your fur baby a dog or cat?

Is your dog a puppy or an adult?

If your pooch is 12 weeks or 12 years old, there is most likely a toy or two out there that will get their tail wagging. Whether they love to chew or cuddle (or both!) there is a huge range available which will drive their mental stimulation and help prevent boredom and destruction.

It’s important to note that, while many toys are tough and hardy, a 100% indestructible dog toy simply does not exist. Most dog toys are designed to have a little give to provide the satisfaction of destruction for your dog with the overall toy remaining mostly intact. By allowing your pooch to chew or destroy a dog toy, you’re also helping to prevent your buddy from digging your garden, ripping up your washing or eating your shoes.

Tip

While it’s a common belief that sticks at the park make great dog toys, they can actually cause serious damage. Their sharp edges, and the splinters caused by broken sticks can not only cause bleeding of the mouth, but scratches to your dog’s eyes and other body parts. Sticks can also lodge in your dog’s throat if caught the ‘wrong way’, with playtime fun resulting in an emergency trip to the vet.

Toys for Puppies

Dogs of any age usually love a good play and chew session, however some toys can be a little too harsh for puppy teeth. Softer, youngster-friendly alternatives encourage your pup to exercise their teeth and gums without causing any damage. These toys can also be great for those older dogs with a more sensitive jaw, due to their age.

What does your buddy love to do most?

The key is to provide your dog with a variety of toys, but not all at the same time, otherwise they will get bored of each toy very quickly! Instead, provide your pooch with two or three options and change it up regularly to keep him interested.

Is your cat inquisitive?

Cats are natural predators and love to hunt, stalk and pounce! Having a range of enriching toys on hand will provide your feline family member with physical and mental stimulation, while helping them express some of their natural desires in a way that keeps them happy and safe.

Toys also offer a great opportunity to spend quality time with your cat, strengthening the bond you share and giving them some exercise!

The key is to provide your cat with a variety of toys, but not all at the same time, otherwise they will get bored of each toy very quickly! Instead, provide your feline with two or three options and change it up regularly to keep her interested.

Tip

Avoid allowing your cat to chase, pounce and bite on your hands, instead of toys. Your cat may come to believe that this acceptable all of the time, instead of just during playtime, which can become a pain point for the cat’s owner!

Interactive Cat Toys

If your feline family member is a bundle of whiskers and energy, interactive cat toys may be just what they need to wear out some energy. These toys either entice active play or encourage your puss to use brain power to work it out.
