Caged birds need regular worming to treat intestinal worms that can make them seriously ill, or even kill them. Symptoms include lethargy and loss of appetite, but it’s better to treat your birds before symptoms are apparent. PETstock’s range of bird wormers can simply be added to drinking water or administered to individual birds. Brands include Aristopet and Vetafarm. Bird wormers including syrups and gels treat the most common worms: threadworm, caecal worm, roundworm, gape worm and gizzard worm. Always read the directions on bird wormers, and don’t give these products to baby birds. If your birds are kept in an aviary, you’ll need to worm them more frequently, but even indoor birds such as budgies can become infected and need regular worming.
