Grant & Alliance Partnership Guidelines

Our Purpose

The Petstock Foundation exists to empower a better future for pets and people.

We do this by strengthening the bond between pets and people and supporting initiatives that create meaningful, lasting impact across our key focus areas:

  • Disadvantage
  • Assistance
  • Rescue

Our work is guided by our pillars:

  • Strengthening the Bond
  • Shared Commitment
  • Leading Change

What We Look For

Preferred organisations and partnerships will demonstrate:

  • Clear alignment with our purpose, pillars, and impact areas
  • Clearly defined needs and suitability of the project or initiative
  • Well-articulated outputs, outcomes, and measures of success
  • A focus on building organisational capability and long-term strength
  • A considered and credible sustainability approach
  • Potential to scale impact or extend beyond the immediate beneficiaries
  • A meaningful contribution to knowledge, practice, or sector capability
  • Appropriate tax status to be eligible for funding

Alliance partnerships (typically over $10,000) will place additional emphasis on:

  • Strategic alignment and long-term impact
  • System-level change or sector influence
  • Opportunities to scale or replicate outcomes

Our Guardrails

We will not support organisations that:

  • Promote or support violence, aggression, or oppression
  • Deny the human rights of others
  • Are involved in animal cruelty or subjugation (including farming, testing, or research)
  • Harbour racism, prejudice, or judge others on anything other than their actions
  • Have not made reasonable efforts to be environmentally responsible

Which Organisations Do We Fund?

We prioritise locally based, grassroots organisations that are well positioned to deliver meaningful impact but may have limited access to funding.

We also welcome applications from larger organisations. However, we seek to maximise impact by supporting initiatives that may otherwise be overlooked by traditional funding streams.

For Alliance Partnerships, we look for organisations that:

  • Demonstrate strong alignment with our strategy
  • Have the capability to deliver at scale
  • Bring opportunities for long-term collaboration and shared impact

What We Do Not Fund

We do not fund:

  • Activities that contribute to the subjugation of animals (including farming, research, or testing)
  • Event costs such as venue hire
  • Professional services including PR, design, marketing, or printing
  • Schools or student exhibitions
  • Salary costs
  • Travel costs

Which Projects Do We Fund?

We support initiatives that create sustainable, long-term change and improve outcomes for pets, people, and communities.

This includes projects that:

Assist: Abused, abandoned, or neglected pets through rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming initiatives.

Support: People and communities experiencing disadvantage, including through companion animal programs and disaster response initiatives.

Enable: Greater access to assistance, service, and therapy animals, improving independence, connection, and wellbeing.

Raise Awareness - Understanding of:

  • The value of rescue pets
  • Animal health and welfare
  • The positive impact of pets on human wellbeing and connection

Reporting Requirements

All funded organisations and partners are required to complete quarterly reporting, scaled to the size and complexity of the funding or partnership.

This ensures we can:

  • Measure impact
  • Track progress
  • Continue to strengthen outcomes for pets and people
